This is a pretty cool site for measuring walkability.
My place gets a 94, which is very walkable. It's 6km west of Melbourne, which is the inner suburbs, and just 300m walk from literally over a hundred restaurants, as well as markets, shops, services.etc. It's about 500m walk from the train line and tram line that goes into the city. It's a very ethnic area, most of the signs are Vietnamese etc.
Mine gets a 7 completely car dependent suburb in a small city all I can see is single family homes with landscaping and sidewalks very few people park their cars on the street, I occasionally see a few people sporadically walking, running or walking their dogs. It takes about a 5-10 minute drive to reach most of my stomping grounds.
