By the way, New York City is also further west.

The FIFA World Cup of 1930, the first one ever played, had snowfall.

Switzerland is the smallest nation to date that has ever hosted a FIFA World Cup
Switzerland is also the only landlocked nation to host a FIFA World Cup.

Here is a video about it:

A total of 83 countries have been represented at the World Cup. Six of those are republics who were previously represented as Yugoslavia or USSR.

The smallest countries by population to qualify are Trinidad and Tobago, Northern Ireland, Kuwait and Jamaica.. The smallest in 2014 is Uruguay, which was the host country and winner of the first World Cup (1930)

The only European countries in the first World Cup were France, Belgium, Romania and Yugoslavia. They were not chosen on the basis of qualification, but for their willingness to undertake the expense of the sea voyage to Uruguay to participate.

Actually, Switzerland is smaller than Uruguay.

No one said anything about population. I assume by smallest nations, we would be talking about land area.

Default Who has most time zones?

  1. UTC+10:00 (ChT) — Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands
  2. UTC+12:00 (unofficial) — Wake Island, McMurdo Station, and Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station
  3. UTC−12:00 (unofficial) — Baker Island and Howland Island
  4. UTC−11:00 (ST) — American Samoa, Jarvis Island, Kingman Reef, Midway Atoll and Palmyra Atoll
  5. UTC−04:00 (AT) — Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Palmer Station

If I do not count the above 5 time zones which go through US territories, who has more time zones US or Canada?

Spoiler
both have 6
