Europe: France: Paris, or a city in Rhone-Alpes, and Provence Cote d’Azur regions of France such as Lyon, Grenoble, Marseille, or Nice.
Asia: Thailand, Singapore, or China: Bangkok, Phuket, Hong Kong, or Singapore.
North America: Canada or USA: Vancouver, Seattle, or Montreal.
Oceania: Australia: Melbourne
South America: Argentina: Buenos Aires
Africa: Reunion. If Reunion does not count as being part of Africa because it is owned and influenced by France, then nowhere in Africa.
There is plenty of magnificent, impressive, inviting, wonderful, exciting places to live in Europe, Asia, North America, and Oceania, so choosing just one place in each is a challenge. I couldn’t select just one place for Europe, Asia, and North America.
North America: New York, USA
South America: Rio, Brazil
Europe: Split, Croatia/London, UK (love both equally!)
Africa: Cairo, Egypt
Asia: Tokyo, Japan
Oceania: Sydney, Australia
Ideally, Mexico, probably Vera Cruz, for weather all-around, and a bit of history.
In practice, the US because it is still a tax-haven, despite current ridiculous demagoguery over tax policy, and it does offer a few warm-weather corners, most preferably southern Florida, southern Nevada, somewhere in southeastern Texas or, in terms of cities, New York or San Francisco;
South America: ideally Argentina or southern Brazil, in practice some two-bit country due to marriage ties;
Europe:
Ideally Italy or Greece or Istanbul (I suppose you didn't consider that Turkey spans two continents). Portugal is nice too, especially eastern Algarve, haunting!
In practice Italy, then ran away fast with the door about to boot me in the arse, like deja vu all over again, but I'd try to go back if the circumstances were right, like deja vu all over again, ideally on the central or southern Adriatic coast or Sicily, in practice most likely in the northcentral, northwest;
Asia: ideally any of the eastern Mediterranean countries - Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine - for their history and spirituality, yes Virginia, but I imagine that countries like Burma, Laos, and Cambodia have very special places.
Africa: ideally any of the southern Mediterranean countries, especially Egypt I suppose, for their history and spirituality;
