I don't think this is very surprising information.

A "millionaire" definition would be useful. There are Texas landowners who own a million dollars wroth of acreage, and can't afford the gas to drive out there an look at it. There are people who inherit a million dollars, and spend it all within a year. A WalMart greeter will earn a million dollars in her lifetime. Which of the above fits the definition of "millionaire"?

That's a good question. According those responsible for this study they base their studies on "household wealth".

Well this is their full statement:

I don't think this is surprising, the numbers seem to roughly correlate with the population of the countries in question, ignoring the rest of the world category, and with the relative sizes of each economy. Certainly there's some deviation, I don't doubt that, but the numbers aren't very surprising.

It is a bit odd, however, that Russia and Korea didn't list. I'd expect them to have significant numbers of millionaires.

More millionaires in France than in Germany or the U.K.? That's surprising.

Also amazing that the U.S. & Japan have more millionaires than the rest of the world combined.
