One of my classes actually had a discussion about this today. Here is some of the things we discusses:

Globalization- a time when most countries will be players in the world market - encouragement of capitalistic competition - goods/services will flow more easily between countries.

War might become less likely - interlaced economies will make war too costly - example of EU - lacing together European economies helped stop wars within Europe.

Market saturation caused by overproduction as countries try to stay competitive - recessions like the one in America can become worldwide - possibility of a country becoming sole global leader and sets unfair rules for trade - is it possible to prevent hegemony? - resource rich states become very powerful (Brazil) - states with no natural resources are at a disadvantage and must find alternatives - non nation-states entities such as multi national corporations thrive - government begins to shape policies to favor MNCs to attract.
