Ain't we in an interglacial period? If so 50,000 years from now would mean we would be back into another glacial period. 50,000 years ago we wasn't even building villages so 50,00 years from now would possibly mean we would be on another planet.
If humans are still around, they might be back to living in caves for all we know. 50,000 years of keeping nuclear weapons in check, avoiding world-wide plagues, and not getting hit by a large asteroid is a lot to hope for. As another poster mentioned, the above positive predictions may come true within the next 1,000 years or less. From our point of reference, 1K years is the same as 50K years into the future.
