Here it is more commercial than important, I mean, we know it is St Valentine because of the date, and because shops make love gifts, restaurants make offers and put love decorations etc. But peope are not really into it.

In Brazil there are no celebrations, most of the people even don't remember or know about this date. There is a "day of lovers" (dia dos namorados) in June 12, which receives much more attention by the people and the media.

It's pretty commercialised here. I don't think many make a huge thing out of it though.

In my country Sudan , celebrating valentine day is a new practice, may be ten years back , no one speak about valentine. Yesterday I read the newspapers and I found an interview with a number of sudanese social figures speaking about valentine day. It is very interesting to find that there are diffent point of views towards the issue. a well known (shiekh) or a religous man said that those who celebrate valentine will go to hell, another former prime minister sayed al sadig al mahadi said that love is the glue that attach people together and so , he encouraged youth to celebrate the day. For me the issue is not having that importance.

I am in North America. Many North Americans grow up exchanging paper valentines with their classmates. There is almost no romantic aspect of these valentines. They are just friendship cards. As we grow, the romance aspect increases. We give valentines to the people we have a crush on. Later, the people we love.
