Aside from a few small tiny island nations, I can identify every nation in the world on a map of the world (assuming it was unlabelled, of course). I'm not boasting, in fact I actually think it's something everyone should be able to do! If I tell people this they're amazed like i'm kind of genius or geography nerd! I've even met avid travellers who aren't that up to scratch with their geography!

I could probably identify MOST countries in the world by sight when I was 12-13. Maybe a few years ago there'd be a few in Africa or E.Europe, Central Asia I'd miss, but now I've pretty much got them all covered.

I also know almost all the world capitals by heart. Chalk it up to having an interesting in maps, geography and the world in general.

Not at all. I think it's a good skill, but probably more valuable in that it's indicative of wider knowledge and curiosity (we know from the many threads you start that you're nothing if not curious about the world!), than for its own sake.

The Capital of Estonia isn't Riga, it's Talinn. Riga is the capital of Latvia.

Anyway, I'm 16 years old and I'm able to locate every country on a map, locate all the states of the US, provinces of Canada, all the capitals of the states and the capitals of the world. I can name a couple of cities in every country.

For capitals actually I probably might not know some Caribbean or S.Pacific nations. Some obscure central Asian ones include Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan.

I can do most of Europe, North Africa and East Asia - and North America obviously, since there are only three countries there.

Many people don't even have the faintest idea where most countries are. One friend of mine went to Morocco, and another friend asked if that was in Europe. I watched a documentary last year about a kid who was abducted in Texas, and eventually fetched up in Spain. When the family heard the news, his (adult) sister said, 'Spain? That's like, on the other side of the country!'

Most of them yes. I could name them all when I was in school; Persia, Belgian Congo, Yugoslavia. Places like that.
