Southern Spain vs. Southern California. Lots in common in terms of climate, landscape, tourism, and Spanish influence, but very different in many ways. Which is preferable in your opinion in terms of:

(1) Cultural Offerings
(2) Nightlife
(3) Cuisine
(4) Cities
(5) Climate
(6) Quality of Living
(7) Location
(8) Natural Beauty/Landscape

Andalusia is more Anglo than Southern California (I have been in both).

Andalucia for Cultural Offerings and Cuisines. I guess when it comes to culture, Spain always tops it all and Andalucia is one of the best ones in Spain. My favourite in Andalucia are Sevilla and Granada. Granada is so interesting as you can really see the Moorish influence.

SoCal better! I've been to both and although I find Andalucia interesting and worth the visit, it doesn't stand the comparison with SoCal where one has everything : a world class megapolis where one finds all the cultures of the world (and largely Spanish speaking!), high sierras , deserts (real desets with saguaros not the Andalucian pretense of a desert), beautiful wild islands (Channel islands), etc etc.
And the climate of Andalucia is not wahat it's beefed up to be : I was in Granada in february and there was snow, and on the coast in Malaga rain and a chilly 12°C!
