Strange way of asking that question. What you probably mean is, which syllable people stress
Anyway, of course it is pretty inconsistent to stress lo because all those prefixes denoting order are stressed on the first syllable in English, Nobody says meGApixel, milLIwatt, giGAbyte, naNOmeter, etc.
Still, I know it is very common to stress the lo in kilometer for whatever reason.
Oddly, everyone says KIlogram rather than kiLOgram
In my language there is a similar inconsistency, people say quiLOmetro and miLImetro (which as such is consistent), but NAnoMEtro and MICroMEtro
and we are one of them. and please don't start all that BS again about Britain being in Europe, Britain is in the European UNION...for now at least...and that is all.
I always have to giggle when I read such statements, they are utter self-denial Britain is European through and through. It is not any less European than any other European country. Britain always has been and always will be European. Just like Ireland, where oddly people do consider themselves European without any hesitation, although they are geographically farther from the mainland, while culturally very similar to Britain.
It's like saying Sri Lanka is not part of the Indian subcontinent/SE Asia/Asia because it is separated from India via a straight that is almost the same width as the English Channel.
When I moved from the mainland to Britain, it felt very familiar, there was nothing really different from other Central or Northern European countries beyond the superficial level (most of all driving the other way round and a different currency).
I hate the EU as much as you do, probably even more, and I hope it falls apart asap. But the EU is just a recent, superficial club, of which one can be a member, optionally. If any country leaves the EU, it is not any less European than before.
Kil lom meter with emphasis on the second syllable lom.
