Why wouldn't I know? I know the cultures of the UK and the US very well. And I know how many differences there are.

Well im entitled to my opinion and I do not think I would find it hard to settle. It is one of the few foreign countries that I didnt get a culture shock when visiting.

Visiting and living there are two very different things.

Actually living in the US, as opposed to taking a vacation there, or even staying in longer term business apartments as I used to, was for me a bit of a challenge at times.

It would take me too long, and bore you, to go into the many differences and frustrations I encountered.

One example; having a bank account in New York and living in Texas showed that at times it appeared that the USA was not in fact united! Out Of State checks were not welcome at certain places, and as my credit card was not working at the time I was having a major issue!

That isnt exactly a culture shock is it though? LOL.

When I was there the tvs had quite a few of the tv channels and shows that we have here. It was really good. You dont get that in spain. The shops had alot of our foods too.

I could - I think it is more similar to here than the US. Only linguistically are the UK and the US very close, our cultures and social attitudes are quite different. In that regard, I would be inclined to think Spain is a better fit, but the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Belgium and northern France would be even better.

Owen, we're European - we're more like a Dutchman than an American.

Well I digress. Something tells me you have immigrant heritage..

We have absolutely nothing in common with the spanish or any other mainland europeans.
I find mainland europeans to be a totally different breed of people. And that is evident when we look at ancestry, hardly anybody has relatvies in spain etc but nearly everybody has american relatives. Over 200,000 left ni and went to america in the 1700s.

When I goto america I feel more at home than at spain and there is nothing that can I can link in with them. Theres nothing there that interests me.
The only reason why you and others are saying this is to try and pretend we are united when we arent and you know it. The europeans are foreignors. Everything is different food, tv, language etc. I dont even like their foods. And its funny because look at lidl a foreign supermarket and youll see what I mean.
