New Zealand only get like 3 million tourists each year, over 1 million of those are Australian.

Wait, do they count people visiting New Zealand with a NZ passport as tourists

Well a lot of Kiwis are naturalised Aussie citizens...I suppose they could have dual-citizenship, in that case they'd be counted, although Kiwis have the right to live and work here I think. Not sure how it works. In any case a lot of Aussies have family across the Tasman and vice versa.

the scenery is truly breathtaking

its isolation keeps a heavy lid on tourist numbers , its far more appealing than many countries which receive much more visitors

I went to school with Kiwis in India, at an international school. The were very proud of their country (as they should be).

One thing about Aotearoa that's interesting to me is the Maoris' close kinship with native Hawaiians, even though they are separated by over 4000 miles.

If you ever have an opportunity to travel to New Zealand..... don't!

And at 3:20 -- if the people of New Zealand want to be part of our world.... I believe they should all hop off their islands and push them closer!

Joking aside, New Zealand is a long way to fly for many parts of the world. But the scenery is supposed to be spectacular and well worth the trip.

Food? People don't go to Aotearoa for the food.

South Island. Paradise. Milford Sound. Maori culture. Beautiful scenery everywhere. Maybe some go for the surfing.

It's a lot greener than Australia. You couldn't pay me to go to Australia. (Shhhh.... )

P.S. I imagine NZ is big on lamb. If you want to know how to make a really tasty lamb dish, go to Mongolia or Central Asia, and learn how to make steamed lamb dumplings. People will beat a path to your door. Guaranteed.

They both have a common origin. NZ was only settled by people about 1200 years ago.
