I have a good friend who is German. We were talking about him coming to visit us in Texas. He liked the idea but seemed hesitant and he finally asked me, "Have you any snakes in Texas?" (Well, actually what he said was "Haff you any snacks in Texas?" which created a whole funny line of confusion for a few minutes, but I digress!). Anyway, I told him that yes, we do have some snakes, but he didn't need to worry - I've only seen two snakes here in the past twenty years and both of them were harmless. No matter! As soon as I told him we did have snakes, he shuddered and said, "Oh..I go not!"

Thank you! These are some of the points some of us have been trying to get across.

^This remark is contradictory by it's very nature. You're stroking your own ego just by saying it.

Anyway, not really, well not me anyway. I have no problems pointing out the flaws of this country and I have in various threads here. However, I'm ok with doing that so long as what's being said is at least somewhat accurate but in many of these threads, some of the things said about the USA by non Americans is just wrong.

Do you think there's any truth to the idea or is it anti-American propaganda?
As a dual national I can tell you americans are no more dumber or smarter than Australians (or Canadians).

When you are a citizen of a dominant world power, you are subject to more scrutiny/criticism. that is all.
Do not fall for stereotypes.
