I understand that Australia has more of a macho culture than other anglophone countries, if I'm not mistaken. But Australia doesn't have as much of a macho culture as Latin American countries, or what?

Not that familiar with Latin American culture, but I'd say the macho culture isn't as prevalent in the cities here as the country and some suburban areas in Australia.

I don't think Australia has a particularly macho culture. Women here have equal rights and Aussie women are a very independent lot. They can do anything a man does like join the Army, work in construction just as an example of some typically male roles.

There are no restrictions on women here. Some men like to get together with the boys for a night out and women do the same and go for a girl's night out. Australia is as equal a society as any place.

It can be a bit coarse at times though, that goes for the women too.

Yes some Aussies are a bit rough around the edges and some of the women are the same but that shows that it is an equal society. Women here have choices and are free to go any place a man is. I think Australia is one of the freer societies because people believe in live and let live. People aren't that judgemental.

Countries with a Macho culture are those in which women rules!!! Machismo is a response of doormats to female domination. So Australia probably is machista up to the ears.

Machismo is a part of Latin American culture for males, but its in Yin/Yang relation to the Latin America cultural conception of marianismo. Marianismo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
"Marianismo" is an aspect of the female gender role in the machismo of Latin American folk culture. It is the veneration for feminine virtues like purity and moral strength. For example, it represents the "virgin" aspect of the virgin-***** dichotomy. Evelyn Stevens states;
"it teaches that women are semi divine, morally superior to and spiritually stronger than men."[1]
The ideas within marianismo include those of feminine passivity and sexual purity. There is power in marianismo that stems from the female ability to produce life.
In a nation like Brazil there are some strong cultural/national contradictions (not unlike contradictions in the United States). So, its said the worst thing a Brazilian father can have is a homosexual son or even worse a son become a transsexual.

Yet, for all the prejudice they face in Brazil, in some ways men in Brazil are more tolerant of them than men in nations like the United States. For example, a man kissing an attractive "shemale" in Brazil would not automatically mark him as gay of mark a strike against his masculinity as it does in the United States. Even sex with another man does not mark the Brazilian male necessarily gay. Brazilians view homosexuality similar to the ancient Romans: you're gay if you're the one receiving.

You also see a lot of cross dressing in Brazil during carnival. And "shemales" are out also in parades celebrated among the population of Rio. In the United States even the hardcore liberal tend to draw strong lines of separation even as they say it's okay to be gay.

"Shemales" are in some strange contradiction both celebrated and detested by Brazilian culture. Don't ask me how.

So, the machismo thing in Brazil has some degree of varying shades to it.

I don't know about Australia.

Pure breed Machistas accept intercourse with a man if they are the "active" side, there's no dicothomy between machismo and homosexuality. There are Machista gays and Queenies.

certain kind of domineering women are good for men like Italian mammas , they giver orders but still want their men to be traditional men , sweedish feminist ideologue types are poison for men , they want to completely strip away traditional masculine traits and re-build a woman with a d1ck , although with time they may turn into eunuchs

No it isn't at all. It is just that women have a choice and are not restricted. There are many women that choose a more traditional role. Australia is not perfect but there is an effort to give women equal rights it doesn't mean that women are domineering to men.
