Really? I wish we would do more with bilingual or multi-lingual education here. Growing up in California, I've heard Spanish my whole life. While I can understand some of it, I can barely speak it.
Yes, my whole study is in English so there's no point in reading Dutch academic books (I attend an international University). Even in my field (European Studies), much of the literature we read is American and many of the top scholars on European integration (e.g. Moravcsik) are from the US.

Cannabis usage has some strange things about it. It's not yet legal in California where I am from but it's very widely used to the point that many police departments make it the lowest priority. In Washington state where I live now it is legal yet, I've not seen anyone using it nor smelled it like I used to.
