For Perth I would personally say the Bankwest Building, because of it's distinctive shape and it gives our skyline it's character. They tried to push the Bell Tower, the 'Swan Bells' as a landmark but I think it's a bit phony.

Other well known buildings include Central Park (tallest building), Fremantle Prison and the Round House (oldest building in WA).

^^ And what would be the most famous not shared with Detroit?

For Perth I would choose the Bankwest building too as it's easily recognisable on skyline pics. I don't have any experience with the city though.

Here in Seattle the space needle is the obvious choice, with Pike Place Market being a close second.
