What? Maybe not from the cold one, but surely from 1945.

Well the reason they are poor now is because the USSR wouldn't let eastern Europe rebuild from WW2 damage. So yeah, it's from 1945

I think the most powerful continent is Africa because it is the birthplace of the human race. The most powerful species of animal to walk the earth to date dominated all the continents of the world from then on.

Probably Europe. The Vatican, the royalty and the wealthy families there are where much of the world's power lies.

The US wouldn't stand a chance against a collective Europe. Not without significant outside help, at least.
Linda, you're one of my favorite people on City-Data but...

Russia is but a shadow of what is was, and France is no military heavyweight at all. The US has more combined and more up to date nukes than those powers. Frances' nuclear power is mostly for energy. Germany basically has no real military power to speak of.

The US didn't really have any kind of real objective in Vietnam except to bomb them into submission. The Vietnamese just could take that bombing...it is atrocious what they did there, definitely. Of course, if America was fighting for it's survival you'd bet they'd deploy their full arsenal. Also no nukes were used in Vietnam. If they were, they'd quickly bomb the Vietnamese into submission.

I don't really like it myself, but the world is at the mercy of America. I think even if the rest of the entire world was pitted against the US it'd be close. I'm not even American, but don't underestimate their power.
The USA spends more on it's military than the next top ten countries combined. I think that says a lot!

If the USA and Europe went to war nobody wins, were all royally scr*wed! all this bullsh*t about who would win is irrelevant, the US, UK, France & Russia all have their own nuclear arsenals and if the people that run these countries were stupid enough to wage war with any of the others its the end of both Continents as we know it.

1. North America - America alone is enough to put it on top.
2. Asia - the influence is growing, but the godawful relations amongst the big powers make the influence extremely decentralised: instead of working together, all countries are working against one another. If everyone would just cast aside their badblood East Asia alone would easily be the winner, but that's never going to happen.
3. Europe - the influence is dwindling at a very fast pace, only Germany is hanging there. Britain shot themselves on the foot by leaving the EU, France is the definition of decaying glory, Italy is quite a mess, and the rest are just too small. In short, the days of Europe being in charge are long gone.
---gap---
4. South America - a mess.
5. Africa - worse than a mess. Irrelevant on all accounts and isn't improving.
