Yes we have these in North America they're call a half baths or a powder rooms, but they also include a sink.
The one in Australia don't have a sinks? That's nasty. lol.
No, we just walk to the bathroom which is usually just next to it. I don't see what's so gross. Are you paranoid about poo particles on the door handle or something?
It's very common over here in Germany to have a full bath with shower/tub and toilet in one room. And a small powder room with just a toilet and sink. It's most of the time near the entry way and used by guests. So they don't have to go upstairs to use the big family bath.
But...we normally don't have that many bathrooms like in the US. You will almost never see 4 bedroom and 3 bathroom places with 2 half baths. Who should clean all that?!

Most Americans would say yes. Yet in all countries, no one cleans the handles in the sink after their poo particle covered hands use them. Thus after washing ones hands we touch the dirty handles to shut them off. Thus re-touching the dirty handles again.
FWIW FYI
And people wonder why Orthodox Jews wash their hands with two handled cups. This is one reason why.
Why would it be disgusting? Do Czechs have poor hygiene and/or bad diets?
I do not know, maybe, but i just do not need to know watching somebody doing number 2 while I am washing my hands/having a shower. It is not, how to put it..it is not my cup of tea. Yeah, that is the phrase I am looking for
I'm not sure about other people, but I usually wait for the person in the bathroom to finish what they are doing if I need to do my business or get a shower.

hahaha However there are certain situations when you just need to do that no matter what...And of course that smell after using a toilet when freshener is not "fast/fresh enough" It is much better to have a toilet and a bath separated but if you prefer something else, I am OK with that
Usually the separate WC/toilet room is totally separate from the bathroom...I'm not talking about a door in the bathroom leading to a toilet, but a room which can only be accessed from the hallway. There is no sink in there just a toilet, usually with a small window high up for ventilation.
I've seen those in Europe. They seem a bit weird to me, because there's NO SINK to wash one's hands. I don't care for that myself, and no, that is not at all common in the US. I've NEVER seen such a set up in the US in fact.
