Cost of living in Dubai (apartment, area, company)

My wife is considering a position in Dubai where the company would provide living accommodation or $1300 US towards an apartment?

Dubai is very expensive isn't? I don't think $1300 is going to get any first world apartment do you? Aren't nice apts. in Dubai $3000-5000 per month?

Does anyone know what a good range of pay is for Senior Web Content Engineer, software localization basically from English to a foreign language.

1300$ won't get you a good apartment in a nice area in Dubai, but if you are gonna live in Sharjah and drive to Dubai every day it can work, you should notice that the traffic is horrible on the rush hours. For a Senior Web Content Engineer I would say 10,000 US$ monthly at least.
