Mexico has the 11th largest economy on earth in PPP. It's almost as large as that of the UK. I'm not surprised, Mexico only seems poor relative to its neighbour, it's a middle income country in global terms and is home to almost as many people as Japan.

While I agree that Mexico's economy is better than many realize, let's not downplay the poor and poverty in that country. I've seen it first hand.
