Istanbul! I was there about a year ago and would go back in a heartbeat, so much to do, good food, great scenery, clean. Everything about it was great.

Cairo is a world away as far as a vacation spot than Istanbul.

This is such a useless thread. Anyone who picks Cairo either has a nationalist agenda, or has not had any news relayed to them in the past several years.

I've been to both. Trust me, there is no contest.

This is not quite as extreme as saying Mogadishu vs. Vancouver, but it's in the ballpark. .

well cairo is cairo the pyramids are the thing of antiquity and I loved my stay there even have relatives there but I would go for istanbul as well

I would pick Cairo because I am obsessed with Egypt but I don't think that anyone else would. It is not a tourist hot spot and they are having a few issues at the moment.
