Because I love mountains and hills, I prefer San Francisco visually. I prefer Sydney's climate though.

Been to both and I prefer Sydney. The harbour is stunning and it has much nicer beaches with overall more greenery.

I'm thrown completely off guard with Sydney being preferred. I would go for SF for sure. I didn't even ever think of Sydney as particularly beautiful place to begin with.

Beaches doesn't equate to a beautiful city. San Fran has plenty of other thing's that make it pleasing on the eye.
