In Australia Christmas day is, as you'd expect, a public holiday, so most shops are closed. I don't think there's a law against restaurants opening though, and quite a few Asian restaurants are actually open (I was driving around my local neighbourhood today). In addition the obvious things like hospitals, some clinics, petrol stations and some fast food places are open. The McDonald's near is open, but I think most like KFC are closed.
How is it in your country? What things are open on Christmas Day? The streets are also pretty empty. I'm especially curious as to the situation in countries like Singapore. I asked my mum and she said a lot of the shops are actually open, despite it being a public holiday there. Wonder how it is in India, Philippines.etc. In most Asian countries it's not a holiday and a normal business day. Some people do sort of mark Christmas though, like the tradition of KFC in Japan.

I honestly don't know what else is open and closed, as I usually spend Christmas at home with family and don't go out. I will find out today, I suppose.
Public transport although much slower than usual, probably a few fast food joints, theme parks and euhhhh nothing else I guess. Certainly no stores, except maybe a few in Paris.
I would also say that about half of our local McDonald's locations are open for all or at least part of the day. Generally speaking the ones that are located on major roads tend to be open all day on Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
I know from past years that Boston Market locations are also open.
I've just come back from the London West End. Tourist shops, quite a few restaurants, bars and cafes, a handful of retail outlets are open. Most things are closed, but crowd volume is almost what it is on a usual day - mostly tourists.
So much for my plan to see Central London's streets nearly empty.

Interesting. Yeah there are decent crowds even here in the city on Christmas day. I remember walking down Oxford and Regent Street past Piccadilly Circus as late as 9am on a Sunday morning and it was very empty.
