Students here drink a lot of alcohol, but there are no fraternities, sororities and university/college sporting events are not big here at all. A lot of students, maybe most, will live away from the campus rather than in dorms on campus.

We don't have the same college culture here. Most of my uni classmates lived at home, not on campus (the only ones who live on campus are international or from the country), many with their parents. Most unis are in the big cities where people live anyway, so there aren't really 'college towns' like in the US. We mostly just go there to attend lectures/tutorials, go to the library.etc and then go home. There are uni guilds and events.etc, but no on campus culture or anything like that. It's more about just getting your degree really.

Plus the fact our legal age is 18 not 21 means we can go to bars, clubs.etc to drink.
