You can do the Arabic "make a calligraphic design with words" in just about any language.




Doesn't mean most people write that way.

I love the look of Sinhalese and the old German (Gothic) script.

Perhaps, but it is taken to a completely different level in Arabic. There is nothing like the mosques in Istanbul or the madrassas in Samarkand.

All the southeastern Asia scripts look good. Previously I said about Tamil and Khmer, but I would also add Burmese.
