^^^Head in sand. This is a problem because we used to be number one. Any drop should be something to pay attention to. Maybe not get alarmed yet but if you don't see this as a problem now, when will you? When we're 30th? 50th? 138th? How far should it go? When did we as a country become OK with accepting anything less than the best while still telling the world we're the best?

I agree, United States should be at #1. There's no reason for us to not be at the top of the rankings. The problem is that our people are becoming lazy. It is a real problem, but when the people want the government to take care of them.. the country loses economic freedom and power.

I don't think that people are lazy,i think that no country in the world can afford to spend so much money in 2 or 3 wars at the same time, the US is doing just that.

I can't believe you guys are arguing over a supposed "economic rating" created by a Russian TV Network (as though they're 'experts' on 'freedom' of any kind… lol)?!!
Its not really about the 178 countries on the list - its about dropping from the top 10 economic freedom ranking.

The rating was created by The Heritage Foundation, and the index was published by The Wall Street Journal and Washington’s No. 1 think tank. Russian RT only re-printed the facts. http://www.heritage.org/about

This is crazy sounding. At what point in history did it become OK to blame those who have no money or power on the issues of the country? While you're complaining about poor getting Food Stamps, Exxon-Mobile pocketed 9000 dollars of your tax money. While we slip in overall economic relevance, our cooperations continue to report record profits. With thinking like this, maybe we don't deserve to be number 1 anymore.
