Why not build a bridge to Tasmania first
Funniest thing is that the two islands of New Zealand aren't even connected with a bridge.
True...even Tasmania is like 200 km away. England is about 37 km away from France, so you can see how much further away it is. Even on a ferry it takes a good 8-10 hours. Nah, just ain't practical. Ships and planes do the shop of transporting goods/freight and people.
One project I'd like to see completed is the Bering tunnel. It'd connect most of the northern hemisphere by rail!

Aside from the 'practicality', sooner or later some New Zealander would probably just blow the damn thing up anyway (or haven't you ever noticed that Kiwis don't want to be mistaken for Aussies)?!
A lot of money spended for a construction which would take decades until it get finished and for no reason to justify this - I suppose. A pharaonic project.

No, maybe you should look at a map its closer than the distance between Iceland and Portugal But yes unpractical.
I didn't say it was exactly the same distance, but in the same ballpark, i.e. thousands of km away, no need to be so pedantic just because someone proved you wrong.
