^^^^Simple conversations above that even I fall into just points to the fact that if you are nor white no matter how long you have been in America you will never truly be American..Not trying to troll but America dose send the mixed message of "Be American and you better never be ashamed of 'were You came from'". Sorry to derail.
I read that Jennifer Lopez actually couldn't even speak Spanish until she was quite old, and she was made fun of because of this.
Not her fault if her parents did not speak any Spanish to her when she was small.
My brother in law doesn't speak Spanish too, but he always say's he's Mexican.
Maybe they thought to be more accepted their children had to speak English.
Yes but maybe they are very proud of their heritage so they always say they are Puerto Ricans
This is what bothers me a lot about the vast majority of Hispanics that were born and raised here. They are American, they're not even culturally Puerto Rican. They don't even speak the same Spanish like us . It's like me running around saying I'm German, when it's only my grandmother that was from Germany. Doesn't make sense at all. Americans of Irish heritage are guilty of this as well, and so are the poorer Asian immigrants. It seems to be a working class and poor class thing
