How epidemic is tax evasion in your country?

In the U.S., the average citizen pays federal and state income taxes (if he or she owe any), and virtually all retailers collect state and municipal sales tax (our version of the VAT, though different).

However, it is very common here to underreport tips, not pay taxes on nannies, and extremely common not to pay USE TAX on items bought online (few people know they even have this obligation, and many or most who are aware of it shrug it off).
