Sorry to hear that you found Riga to be "awful". I've been there several times, and traveled the entire length of the country, and found it to be quite lovely. Spent quite a bit of time in the old city of Riga, and was charmed by its splendid architecture, fresh flower stands and markets, and its lovely people. Restaurant food was excellent, and services were superb.

I'm sorry you found Riga to be "awful". I've been there several times, and found it charming, with its rich culture, lovely architecture, fresh flower stands and markets, art galleries and music festivals. The food was excellent, the service very good, the people helpful and courteous. They are skilled artisans, and make beautiful jewelry (Baltic amber abounds, often called the finest amber in the world); pottery, intricate exquisite baskets, lovely weavings and crystal with a ring that can compete with any of the world's crystal.
I love the old city of Riga.

I don't consider South Africa and Russia to be developed countries....too much poverty and economic stagnation. South Africa is no doubt the Third World. Russia used to be Second WOrld and its definitely not a First World country either.
The most dangerous cities in the developed world....
- Baltimore, Detroit, Newark, LA, Miami, Philly
- Tel Aviv and Jersulalem, Israel

LA and Miami are actually relatively safe, especially when compared to those other cities you posted...Though Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are in a whole different category. Military operations and suicide bombings are not comparable to institutionalized poverty, the drug trade, and gangs, and such. The violence in Israel/Palestine is due to a war basically, whereas in those US cities it's just a way of life...It's normal.

The Dublin where atm workers were held at gunpoint by robbers today,
the Dublin where 2 polish men were stabbed in the head yesterday
the dublin where army bomb disposal units destroyed a pipe bomb yesterday,
the dublin where a man was found shot dead by the grand canal a couple of days ago.
Dublin has a lot of problems with crime for a small city but it is hardly the most violent city in the world

Aha, a couple of people out of over a million were held up?
Quite a crime wave we're having.

The suburb of Dublin were some Polish men got in a fight and two were hurt?

Fairview Park where some idiot(s) placed a hoax bomb on a park bench overnight and it was promptly checked and cleared by my colleagues in EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) But that's a big plus for Dublin, no? I mean it shows that we're actively protecting the citizens.
