Calling Russia to task for being aggressive and protecting or advancing their own interests really has no effect on the average Russian. But poke at us Americans and we feel we have to jump to explain and defend each and every viewpoint. Unfortunately we are simply just more fun to mess with than Russia will ever be..

Russia is poor. It's hard to convince anyone that the Russians are running things. Americans, and especially Jews, are much better targets for the blame game. Those who oppose Russia most tend to be in eastern Europe and the regions directly which have been directly affected by Russia.

Russia doesn't care if the whole world is against its politics.. The US doesn't.
There is tons of protests in Europe against Russia, Egypt military problems, Tibet or the Syrian civil war. You won't read about this in American newspapers because it's not about you. This is true about most countries, not only the USA.

There are also decendents of Russian colonists in the Baltic states, Kazakhstan, and all the former Soviet republics. This is actually why there are ethnic Russians in Ukraine even though Ukraine should be for ethnic Ukrainians only the way France is for the French and Britain is for the British, Israel is for Jews, and China is for the Chinese etc etc etc.
Ah, no. Ukraine the area was never occupied completely by Ukrainians only. There are many ethnic groups in Ukraine, and that use to be in Ukraine. The Ukraine borders are not representative of ethnic Ukrainian settlement. Also, millions of Ukrainians migrated from Ukraine into Siberia and central Asia in the later part of the Russian Empire. Many of those from central Asia migrated to Ukraine after 1991. Ukraine was forced to become part of the USSR after temporary independence, but there were many Ukrainians who were part of this as well. Ukraine was a full participant in the Soviet regime.

Also, the expansion of Russia resembles the US expansion west in a way, and many areas invited Russia to take them over for protection from other countries. And still others were occupied by other countries, and treaties ceded the area to Russia.

While there were of course atrocities to the native tribes (every ethnic group including Russians at some point), the culture has been pretty well preserved among the natives, they even have there own republic within the Russian Federation.

You honestly think allowing casinos and tax exemption means good treatment? Is this a serious statement?

Simply because Russia or the USSR did less harm to the world than the West.Russia helped many third world countries gain independence while the west encourages colonization, expansion.
Russia was right on most world issues : 2nd world II, Apartheid in South Africa,Algeria's war of independence,Vietnam,Iraq,Angola ,Mozambique wars, Palestine and Syria
They were wrong on Bosnia,Kosovo and Afghanistan

The Western world expects less of Russia than the US or Israel.

I would consider myself extremely lucky if I didn't have to pay my ridiculously high state and federal taxes.
