I'm not quite sure what 'swag' means. I've heard the word, but never really had the interest to find out. I guess it's some moronic MTV rap shít, so I'm not interested.

Eh, the rumor was that it means "secretly we are gay," but that's sort of a retroactive acronym because "swag" became a rally obnoxious and overused term.

It's a shortening of "swagger," and it was attached to a sort of hip-hop/skaterish style where you wear baseball caps slightly crooked, board shorts, and letterman/varsity-style jackets, jean jackets or vests, among other things. Saying you "got swag" means that you "got swagger," and could be applied outside that style, but at this point, it's like saying you're "rad." It's just makes you sound like a doofus, it's so played out.

Tyler, the Creator is the first thing that pops to mind when I think of a "swag icon."

This google image search will tell you all you need to know: swag - Google

Not really used here and basically just came up when Soulja Boy's "Turn My Swag On" was – for the lack of a better word – covered by an Austrian artist.

Rule of thumb: Whoever uses the word swag, doesn't have it...

Actually, it's become a part of the French lexicon too, in frequent use by the youth.

Probably in use in other parts of Europe and the world, too.

I think of swag as a low-income outgrowth of the aesthetic of "cool".

Yeah. It's just jargon associated with music and pop culture that is on a nihilistic race to the bottom. Anybody who finished high school on time or at all will kill anyone who uses the word swag.
