Colombia & India have the most public holidays and Mexico has the least. None of the top 20 countries are in North America. So how does your country stack up and how do you think the number of public holidays effect your personal work-life balance satisfaction?

15 days apparently here. I hate it if I forget to go to the shop the day before but otherwise I like all the holidays. In my last workplace we finished work at 13:00 on the day before a public holiday so it was almost two holidays for the price of one.

There are 18 nationwide holidays plus some only in specific states.

In Vienna they have New Year (1.1.), Epiphany ("Heilige drei Könige"?; 6.1.), Good Friday (Easter Sunday minus 2 days), Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, 1st of May, Feast of the Ascension (Easter Sunday +39 days), Pentecost (Easter Sunday +50 days), Corpus Christi (Easter Sunday +60 days), Assumption of Mary (15.8.), National Day (26.10), All Saints' Day (1.11.), St. Leopold's Day (15.11.), Feast of the Immaculate Conception (8.12.), Christmas Eve (24.12.), Christmas Day (25.12.) and St. Stephen's Day (26.12.).

So, 19 in Vienna. We only really celebrated New Year, Easter Sunday and Christmas Eve at home. And All Saints' Day (you can hardly call that celebrating...) and Epiphany. So yeah, maybe a bit excessive. Especially most of those traditional Catholic holidays where nobody knows why they actually have off.
