I'm not an English wannabe all of my ancestry is from the British Isles with some English. Its the truth and its more than some people born there.

Australia has wide open spaces to build large houses. Pretty simple, really.

Our form of government is based in the British Parliamentary system. In fact here in British Columbia where I live, I hear more bag pipes than I did when I was in Scotland.
One of the world's best pipe bands is from Simon Fraser University.
The list goes on.

You don't consider that a large house?

But no.....I don't watch that kind of stuff.

Anyways, you're far more likely to find yourself in a detached, more modern home in Australia, then in the UK.

I just found it totally different. Maybe Halifax and those places are more like it.
Let me understand this. You went to Winnipeg, one city in the second largest country in the world by land mass, and you judged the whole country by that?
Canada is VAST and varied. If you had spent time in places like Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax, St John's and St John, PEI you would have a much better understanding of the country.

Then go to Quebec and see the other Canada and it's influences on the rest of Canada. Then you will start to understand this place.

It's the old adage, Amsterdam is not The Netherlands, Paris is not France.

Not really my house is that size. But my mum hates cleaning it, it takes her hours.

I think 6,000 would be ideal. I consider above 5,000 to be large and above 10,000 a manision. Really there is no need for that.
