Global Gender Gap | World Economic Forum - Global Gender Gap

Not too many surprises here. Scandinavia, Ireland, New Zealand come on top, closely followed by the modern western democracies. Southern Europe, South America trails a bit behind, then say China, Turkey, with not surprisingly, African, Middle Eastern and South Asian countries faring worse.

There are no huge surprises, although I thought Japan and Korea would be higher (even though I know they're still traditional in some areas) being more developed. I'm not surprised China is higher than most East Asian countries. The Philippines is surprisingly high while Malaysia is as on the same level as Saudi Arabia (although not as bad)!

I feel in some areas people in the Anglosphere are a bit more 'gender-conscious' than Scandinavia...although in western countries you see fewer women doing 'male-dominated' jobs like construction work.

I'm just utterly surprised by Philippines.
I'm not surprised by the conditions in Japan or Korea though.

Well, like in Australia there's still the blokey ocker culture, and I dunno, very few women in say engineering, many still prefer child care...it's just the vibe I get. Scandinavian women don't all try to dress up like slaggy Hollywood wannabe celebs it seems.
