I'm an uninhabited rock located between Northwestern Greenland and Ellesmere Island in Canada. There was last a discussion in 2012 about dividing the island in half (giving both countries only their second land border with another country.) Why has this stalled? That's where the sea border was agreed to and it would make a great trivia question. Besides, it's in the nature of arctic countries to compromise!
This is so interesting that I probably can't sleep all week. WWIII might start over this!
Is this because Norway cuts you off from the Arctic Ocean
Seriously though, it's very important that Canada asserts its Arctic sovereignty with Russia being such a big player and the US and most of the EU claiming the Arctic Ocean to be International Waters (it isn't.)

Most of the Arctic Ocean IS international waters following the international definition. If you disagree, be ready for a war to split all other oceans as well.
Of course some close states would like to own the oil too far from their coasts nevertheless. It's understandable. Norway or Russia would be nothing without their raw ressource.
