I'm an American married to a Scot so we always watch the World Cup. And we cheer for whoever is playing England.
Some of my family in the US say it's a boring game, not high enough scores. And they watch games like baseball!
my husband thinks since football isn't like basketball that both teams can easily score and can score many, many times , a goal in football is like having an orgasm. The excitement it gives you when your team makes a goal is just really really big.

Good article. It is often said that the US is the ONLY place in the world where it is not the most popular sport, but that's patently false. There are plenty of other places where another sport dominates, even if association football (soccer) is easily the world's most popular sport in spite of this.
Finland and India, for example... two countries whose football teams a lot of people don't even remember that they exist. At least USA qualifies very often in the World Cup.
im not saying that soccer is a bad sport but I think there are better sports out there like baseball or hockey
Depends on the personal taste of each one.
Baseball is a sport which I never understood.
The sports which I personally like more are basketball and volleyball.

Crickets massive in India, so we see them in the Cricket World Cup and England regularly plays them in International Test Matches, One day Cricket and 20/20 Cricket.
Ice Hockey is the most popular sport in Finland, with Football not even coming close.
I can honestly say that I quite like Ice Hockey and always enjoy watching it in the Winter Olympics, I would happily see more Ice Hockey on British TV. Ice Hockey being fast and exciting to watch.
