Are there any that you have to lick, or are they all self-adhesive?
Are there any picture stamps in common usage, or just metered strips or labels?
Are they denominated, or is a stamp good for a letter forever?
In the USA, I don't even know the answer to any of these question, but I know we have "Forever" stamps. I see two or three of them coming in the mail per year. I use about one stamp a year, and I have a stock of old ones, of miscellaneous denominations in an Altoids tin, so I haven't bought a stamp in 20 years, and I have to go on line to see how much it costs to mail a letter.
The American stamps I've seen lately are so ugly, I'd be ashamed to put one on a letter.
We have both in Spain, self addesive and the ones to lick.
The pictures with common usage is the King face. This is the standard stamp but it is going to change soon:

But not always like this, the King is the standard image but sometimes we have stamps with different topics, such Histrical ones, cultural, etc.
For example:
Singers and classical actors/actresses:

There are thousands of them.
I am not sure how long a stamp is useful but I think they are forever, as long as you add the rest of money in stamps (fares rise)
No sure if we've used the lick on ones for years. Most are self-adhesive, of different themes, from flora and fauna to famous Australians. The standard value is 50 cents.

Yeah I seldom sent letters but I don't really remember having to lick stamps. I remember the envelopes you needed to lick, but I didn't really lick them, just sort of spat on them and rubbed in my saliva.
