Sweden: This year it was from the 9th June-17th of August. It is normally from mid June to late August.
10 weeks

It doesn't vary region by region but some of the other holidays do.

In Canada education is a provincial responsibility.

So here in Quebec the summer break runs for 9 weeks.

From the last weekday before St-Jean-Baptiste Day (June 24) which is a national holiday, until just before or just after Labour Day (the first Monday in September).

Taiwan:
High school, middle school, elementary school-July and August, approximately 2 months. But students usually have to go to school from the last week of July to the third week of August, which is called "auxiliary summer courses",in fact that's just cram school.

College:Mid June-mid September,approximately 3 months.

The USA has already been mentioned so I will write about the countries that I know about.

Israel: Public schools have traditionally started on Sept. 1st but I believe it is being changed this year to end of August beginning. The elementary schools finish June 30 and high schools (and I think middle schools as well) finish June 30. The academic year for universities start in October (approx. the 3rd week) and classes finish at the end of June although the exam period lasts through July. The university one month break between semesters during the academic year is approx in January (to early Feb.)

China: Academic year starts the last week of August and at the beginning of July. There is a long break for the Chinese New Year in January and part of February.

Ecuador: Academic year starts in April and finishes in March the year after. The break between university semesters is in September.

Australia: The school/academic year starts at the beginning of February and ends in mid-December. The Christmas break there is their summer vacation time. Australian universities do have a vacation period during July-August.
