Vancouver's Skytrain started in 1986 and is growing has 68.6 with another 10 currently being built.
Most of the system exists outside of Vancouver proper.
I remember when the current ones were new. I was in Montreal as a child in 1967.
Will the new cars still have those rubber tires that seem unique to Montreal?
I can't take you seriously with incorrect information as above. "La Nouvelle-Orleans" aka New Orleans has been rated as one of the fastest growing cities in America, home to Hollywood South and a growing high tech industry:
Hardly a slum infested city. Very walkable and vibrant.
I have friends that own property in New Orleans. They love to visit, but even they say that it's only a small portion of New Orleans that is nice. The rest, not so much.

How many bus routes are there in the Canadian cities you mentioned? I'm sure there's more than Stockholm. Something we should be improving is the bus system.
There was a proposed project for new trams in Stockholm, they should be built by 2025 but I am not sure what's going on with them... But they look like this:

Sitting capacity appears to be minimal. They must not be intended as true mass transit. Maybe just a tourist attraction?

They look great. Are they being built by Bombardier ( Canadian Company ) as many of your current trams are?
