Due to this post, you're going to see another reason there is contempt for the USA. At some point, someone will say, probably in a long winded post how the US has problems and is not perfect. That really gets under my skin because there was a time when Americans did not accept mediocrity. If we had problems, we did what we had to solve them. That's how we got to be number one at one time. We're not anymore because we're willing to accept being imperfect rather than working at being better. All the while still claiming to be the best. Most irritating.

What nonsense. There are some odd religious trends in the USA like the prosperity doctrine, a handful of small extremist political group distorting religion to spread their ideology but the USA can hardly be described as a haven for "religious extremism". Nor is it something that the rest of the world is particularly concerned about.

There are some who are like that, but not all.

Just like how not all rural conservatives think they are more hard working and better than everyone because they live in "Real America" (rural America) where people are all laid back and life is slow.

Really? How about creationism or Christian fundamentalism in general?

Neither of these can really be called "religious extremism". ISIL and Hamas are extremists in that their very root ideologies advocate acts of violence against civilians or "infidels" and they pursue it aggressively and en masse.

They are miserable and jealous obviously. If they had something to be happy about, they wouldn't have time to criticize others.

Americans aren't really that big into religion as you people want us to be... religion has been on a decline for awhile now... and those who are religious don't really take it that seriously.

I guess that's why there are so many howling on P&OC how religeous people shouldn't be forced to serve gays.
And how evil abortion is because God creates life.
