LOL.

New England in the US is the most "British" part of the world outside the UK... and on many levels the US has much closer relations with the UK than the others do..

If you seriously think New England is like the UK, you seriously need to visit the UK. No where in the US resembles Europe! America has its very own identity and it's vastly noticeable once you disembark into the country!

Some colonial towns in New England might resemble the UK (Cambridge MA) comes to mind, but that is only the colonial area of the town, once you leave that segment of the city you're quickly back in America.

As far as relationships. America has special relationships with just about every nation on this planet, that is what super powers do! (from its rivals china, russia), to their neighbors Canada, to south of the border mexico, to Germany with its many military bases, to Israel which is highly supported by Washington. Uk is not the only country that has close links to the US!

America is too big of a dog to be grouped as an anglo nation (which is a label more applicable to countries with links to royal British crown "Australia, NZ" with close ethnic links to the english.... which in America is mostly rural southern whites, but outside of it is rare. shoot I hardly would consider Canada anglo either considering a huge segment of its population speaks french.)

In fact the vast majority of Americans don't even have anglo-saxon heritage. (among white Americans, german and Irish heritages are far far more common) especially outside the American south!

New England is not the same as the UK, but its closer than you'll find in Australia or New Zealand. Parts of eastern Canada have a strong "British" character as well.

Define British character

other than colonial buildings in some new englander towns, there is nothing that british in modern new england)

britain today doesn't even resemble the britain that colonized the US, it has changed vastly since then as well.

I would think the US influences the UK more than the other way around. While British are very aware of what goes on in America, most Americans are oblivious to the UK.

here's a few more...the prestigious North Eastern US universities were founded on the UK "Oxbridge" model, the US British based legal system still underpins US society...the British system of weights and measures...

The original US 13 states were true British colonies for much longer than their Australian counterparts.

I can't say about Australia but the U.S doesn't resemble the U.K at all. The U.S looks like the U.S and U.K looks like the U.K. Ireland is probably the only country that resembles the U.K in any fashion.

Agree with you, the US looks nothing like the UK, the english isn't even the same

America is a completely new universe compared to the UK!

Australia also looks very different from the UK, and Canada too.

Got to be the US hands down. The whole attitudes to race and sexuality in the other countries are way behind the times.

Can you explain what you mean?
In terms of Race 50% of Afro-Carribeans are mixed in the U.K, and their are more mixed people in the U.K. Gay Marriage laws were passed in Canada and U.K before the U.S. Australia doesn't have those currently.
