since both countries are very similiar culturally, religion, history, hispanic
I would probably travel to Mexico, it's just across the border from California, they have nice beaches, excellent food, including seafood, they have roast pig similiar to the lechon in the Philippines
it would be worth it just for the authentic Mexican cuisine, tropical weather, plus it's so close!
but Im not sure about safety? I heard about the drug cartels and the violence in Mexico
Places where we do business in the Philippines speak English, that helps a lot. I love the food in the Philippines and the country has some of the friendliest people. I would never spend my money in Mexico since they are helping to flood the US with illegal aliens, thus making it harder for Americans to get jobs, but that is just me and if you speak Spanish then the South American countries are definitely a lot closer than the Philippines and I would pick one of the others over Mexico.
Filipino food is more of an acquired taste for Americans. Main dishes tend to be sweeter and desserts more bland. Most would go for Mexican food unless experimenting
Mexican food is definitely better. But there are a few dishes/deserts that both Filipinos and Mexicans have: tamales, empanadas, flan, menudo, chicharon, champurrado,
I think that's about it. Filipino food didnt get a ton of influence from Mexico for some reason, more Spanish influence.
I am originally from Mexico, but aside from the food and the climate I am not a big fan of the country. I would much rather go to the Philippines. Whenever I have to go back to the DF on family visits I am bored out of my mind. That never happens in Manila. Same thing if comparing the beach resort cities.
I like the music, prevalence of English, and island culture of the Philippines. Cuisine in Mexico is way way better though.
