I overall have equal preference in Paris France, Hong Kong China, Tokyo Japan, and Shanghai China. They all offer variety I want in my life. I have equal respect about all of these cities. However, I am not only a mega city individual, so don’t take my stance the wrong way.

Entertainment Options: Shanghai China, Tie Paris France/Hong Kong China, Tokyo Japan, London UK/England

Shanghai is totally underrated in this department. Shanghai is quickly gaining astronomical prominence, and elite World Class Global status. While I love my visit to Paris, there is sometimes a subtle overrated entertainment element. When massive nightclubs are much easier to discover in Prague Czech Republic, and even Vienna Austria, Romanian beach communities, then there is a situation of concern about Paris France nightclub scene. However, Paris delivers enough in other areas of entertainment usually. There is a Yin & Yang occurrence about comparing entertainment between Hong Kong China, and Paris France, overall a tie for very different reasons.

Neighborhoods:
Tie Paris France/Hong Kong China/Shanghai China, Tokyo Japan, London UK

Variety is not the only factor about what city has the best neighborhoods. There is also convenience, aesthetics, extent of residential/commercial business stores companies, and overall quality.

Quality Of Life: Paris France, Hong Kong China, Tie Shanghai China/Tokyo Japan, London UK

Despite some anti-city people, a high quality of life is easily realistic, and possible in many people’s lives in mega cities. I say occasionally sometimes often humans are allowed to find an even higher quality of life in mega cities compared to a smaller city or a bland, mediocre suburb, or in the middle of nowhere. Give me NYC, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and even London any day over a remote sterile suburb.

Culture: Tie Paris France/Hong Kong China/Shanghai China, Tokyo Japan, London UK

There are many yuppies, and hipsters in all of these cities. My final deciding thought is about what cities have a highest percentage of real people, easygoing/laid back/relaxed individuals, non-judgmental, progressive intellectual, and spiritually deep not too shallow people.

Tokyo, and London unfortunately seem more competitive, hints of tense pretension, and shallow compared to those other cities. However, on a Global scale they are not too terrible.

Individual Reflection: Tie Paris France/Hong Kong China/Shanghai China, Tokyo Japan, London UK

There is equal desirability in imagining myself in Paris, Hong Kong, or Shanghai. While Paris feels deeply classical golden renaissance while Hong Kong, and Shanghai feel more ultra technological modern.

Cafe Scene: Paris France, Tie Shanghai China/Hong Kong China, Tie Tokyo Japan/London UK

Ubiquitous prominence of independent cafes is not quite reality in a significant amount of areas in Paris. I expected thousands of these cafes all over Paris, and observed there is maybe 50-100 total. Enough cafes, yet not according to expectations.

I bet Hong Kong, and Shanghai have a better Independent Cafe scene than what people think about, in dramatic contrast compared to what people believe in Paris France cafe scene. Hong Kong and Shanghai might end up slowly reaching Paris France level in these independent cafes. I especially love independent cafes having chandeliers antiques inside, unique furniture around, selling restaurant meals/not only coffee, and free wifi wireless internet.

Proximity To Nature: Tie Tokyo Japan/Hong Kong China, Shanghai China, Paris France, London UK

Tokyo Japan is only 1-2 hours away on car/bus from Mount Fuji ultra high volcano mountain 10,000ft-13,000ft/3,700-3,799m. What an unprecedented sometimes not realized geographic fact! Mount Fuji is easily seen from downtown Tokyo. Imagine a city of more than 7-9 million people, and one of the World’s top heavily populated metros 35 million people in such close proximity to high mountains. In Hong Kong, someone is able to go into desolate hilly mountainous tropical feeling beaches, and islands rather quickly some people fail to realize.

Architecture: Shanghai China, Tie Paris France/Hong Kong China, Tokyo Japan, London UK

Why doesn’t a higher amount of people mention The Bund, and French Concession areas of Shanghai? Even in Europe, these historical classical EU style buildings would rank high, and compare well to some of Europe’s best architecture.

Pudong area of Shanghai represents innovative modern high ride skyscrapers, and there is tons of recent architecture urban planning projects all over Shanghai.

Another Yin & Yang situation is going on between Paris France, and Hong Kong China. They offer drastically varied versions of buildings, and deliver well in what they offer.
