VICE | United States | The Definitive Guide to Enlightening Information

I can't decide if it annoys me or if I like it. Some of the documentaries they come up with seem specifically tailored just to turn heads. Search 'Vice documentary' on Youtube and you'll see what I mean. You have to wonder if they simply just piece together foreign tidbits until they have enough to effectively blow some nonexistent phenomenon in to existence. It comes off a bit too superficial and trendy, but I dunno.

I love their documentaries. I have never paid closer attention though to see if they have a hidden agenda but I love their style. I like the one they did in Pakistan called Karachi: Pakistan's Most Violent City, they really showed how messed up that city is.

I've watched a few of their videos, they bug me. I think your feeling about them is spot-on.

It is often a bit of a novelty thing, I don't really take it too seriously, but they can be quite interesting and sometimes informative.

The "Vice News" channel on youtube is pretty good. I love the stuff about Ukraine, ISIS, the Vice Guides to Travel and West Sahara. There is hardly a video that really sucks.
Their "Munchies" channel is also pretty entertaining. Eddie Huang's stuff is one of the best on youtube.

I can't read their articles on vice.com, though, especially the German language ones from their regional edition for Austria/Switzerland. I've never seen so much non-sense on a single webpage.

Yes, me too. Watched every Ukraine video there is, and also the coverage during the World Cup. Usually watch their documentaries when I'm bored, but as always, with a critical eye.
