Im 38 and have been to BrasÃlia just once, when I was about 5/6 years-old. I remember that it was permitted to go up on the congress, like the protestors did in 2013 (And those days Brasil was a dictatorship...)
I also remember visiting the Cathedral, the belvedere on the TV tower, the deep blue sky...
But very few brazilians have really been there. Probably less than 10% of the pop.
I've never been to Washington, but that should change this summer. I plan to slowly check many of the big cities of the East Coast off my list, one at a time, in the next few years.
So you live in Sydney and haven't been? Only a few hours away! I went when I was in Australia, it was pretty boring but there were a few things to do.
I haven't been to places that are 25 minutes away from us (Sydney Olympic Park, for one). It's not because I'm not bothered but that I'm not interested.
And you pretty much answered your own question down there. I've always heard that Canberra is boring. So it killed my interest in visiting it.
