I haven't been to places that are 25 minutes away from us (Sydney Olympic Park, for one). It's not because I'm not bothered but that I'm not interested.
And you pretty much answered your own question down there. I've always heard that Canberra is boring. So it killed my interest in visiting it.
Yeah I guess so. Visitors usually see more than residents, that's true of no matter where you go.
Yes, I went to DC for the first time this summer. We wanted to take our son to see the museums and the White House (not a tour), and he seemed to enjoy himself. We didn't get to see a whole lot, since he's only 5, but he loved the museums. I'd love to go back there and spend several days exploring everything; maybe when he's older!
If you have, what is your story on how you got there? What was it like?
I lived near our capital Washington D.C. a few times over the years and drove through on several trips over the years. I was fortunate to have visited or passed through a few capitals of other countries.
I have lived or worked in the capitals of the 3 countries where I have lived for significant time
India = New Delhi. I love wandering the narrow alleys of Old Delhi and the place near India Gate. In winter, Delhi is wonderful. In summer heat, forget it.
U.K = London. One of the great cities for visitors
USA = Washington, DC. A ton of things to do and most of it free. My BIL now lives there so I visit it often.
I have been too many times because my hometown is 50km away, I don't even remember the first one, but my first memoir comes to my mind was at Christmas maybe in 1993 o 1994, I went to Madrid with my family and my friends from childhood and her family too in a big van, we visited too many Christmas stores with lots of toys.
