Yes, I agree. But inequality is not the same of poverty. It means that the wealthy is badly distributed, with some places where the people is extremely rich and other places where the people is extremely poor. This is a typical (and sad) trait of Latin America. In Africa, on the other hand, the poverty in the cities is widespread, and rich people in some african cities - when they exist - would be in Latin America considered middle-to-low income people.

Well I don't know about that, the Cities I've been to didn't look sterile.

Don't genaralize! Sterile places are few and far in between in developing countries, there were a few awful ones, but they usually already weren't known for being fun places. It also vastly depends on the culture of a country.
The advantage of developing countries for Western tourists is the purchasing power, an average income in any developed country can give you to some of the best services in most developing countries. That means you have much more choice when it comes to entertainment.
