People from Europe are generally not thinking much about the San Francisco bay area. I don't think anything but New York or LA gets much attention. I've been in Silicon Valley for a job interview and it really is one of the nicest areas in the US I have seen. It looks like western europe to me because it is so densely populated but with a much better climate. Except that it is far more expensive than Europe, I never really intended to live there paying $3000 rent for a small apartment or $1.5 million for a small house. I see the appeal but the area is much too expensive for what it offers.
One thing I noticed is that although the computer industry has most of its roots here, you don't really notice anything of that when driving around. It's mostly average looking towns although in a much better condition than most of the rest of the US. Somehow I had expected more of it. Then again, most of tech has already moved to Asia these days so it is not really surprising you don't notice the tech sector there anymore.
Drro, isn't that because most of the tech companies are in the surrounding bay area? Palo Alto, Mountain View etc?
Anyway I'm bound to be paying a visit to SF soon as my wife's brother's family live there. As for projection overseas, I would say it's quite well-known although not in the same league as NYC or LA.
To the people that live outside of the United States, how attractive is San Francisco Bay Area to you?
Very atractive.
As a place that you could visit on a trip or possibly move to one day in the future.
I have friends there and probably will visit someday.
How important is San Francisco to you where you live, how often do you hear about it?
The Silicon Calley is surely a world hub.
Is it a super popular place in your city/country/area of the world?
No, maybe many brazilians dont even connect SF to the Silicon Valley (the less enlightened ones)
Are there any American cities that you like more than it?

To me not so much, I'm pretty indifferent towards it.

To visit, why not, but to move to, no. It's ****ing expensive and I don't want to drive.

It's extremely famous and popular in Taiwan, definitely amongst the top 3 (along with NY and LA), mostly because lots of Taiwanese Americans live there (I think), and the Sillicon Valley of course offers lots of opportunities for those who work in the IT sector, which lots of Taiwanese people do.
Are there any American cities that you like more than it? Less than it?
Idk, the East Coast appeals me a bit more, especially New York.
It's somewhere i've thought about visting but that's about it.
