The cost per year in Canada, for the same degree, will be about a half to a third of the cost in the USA.
Why ? Post secondary education in Canada is tax payer supported. We also don't have multi million dollar sports programs, that are a training ground for the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Imagine a place that does not have ANY sports scholarships ? Further imagine a place that strongly supports actual research and innovation, above being a " sports championship winning school ".
.
Hmm, I would suspect that au contraire the high-profile athletics programs at most US universities are cash cows that help pay for a lot of other stuff that is more academically-focused. Many of those US universities with the big time football and basketball programs tend to be world leaders in research in various fields.
Yes, tuition fees tend to be higher down in the States when compared to Canada, but I am not sure it's because they're funding sports in one direction (money just going out the door) and that it's the students footing the bill.
Public schools: 1300~2000 USD per year.
Private schools: Twice of that of public schools.
It'd cost more if you choose to live in the dorms, which is usually not too expensive.
I have included the cost of dorm living in my figure. I should also state that per the University web site about 2/3 of the sudents receive what amounts to approximately 16,000 yearly in grants and scholarships.
Universities are free in Scotland but £9000 in England. That is the Conservatives for you.
I thought it's pretty interesting that Scottish universities are only free for Scots and people from other EU countries, whereas people from other parts of the UK and from outside the EU have to pay

Yes, it's an unusual stance that the SNP haven't been able to explain very well. I'm unsure of the motivation behind it, but it sticks in the craw for us a little bit. Makes studying abroad for English students look increasingly attractive - and more people are choosing to do so.
I'm just thankful that I graduated before this bunch of Eton tossers were elected because I wouldn't waste £9000 a year just to study here.
